Bowl games have slowly been disappearing from network television over the last several years but nothing says college football on cable quite like the upcoming season:

The Capital One Bowl is moving from ABC to ESPN in a deal that will feature the game on the sports network through 2018.

The sixth-oldest college bowl game will be the lead-in to the “Granddaddy of Them All” under a new television lineup of New Year’s Day games on the ESPN networks.

Sports net will have the exclusive rights to broadcast the Gator Bowl through 2014. The sports net originally carried the Gator Bowl from 1988-1991

ESPN has reached a new multiyear pact with the Gator Bowl and has agreed to extensions with the Capital One Bowl and Outback Bowl. All three post-season college football games will air annually in the early window of Jan. 1 as part of a “roadblock” of bowls matching a team from the SEC against one from the Big Ten across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.

The Outback Bowl will move its kickoff to 1 p.m. on ABC starting in January 2011 as part of a four-year contract extension with ESPN, officials with the New Year’s Day game announced Thursday.

The Gator Bowl Association will outline its television partnership plan for the next four-year cycle during a news conference today at the East Stadium Club at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
